At room temperature, formaldehyde is a gas. However it can be contained as liquid in a solution in concentrations up to 30-40%. Formaldehyde is stabilised with around 4% methanol. Formaldehyde is a potentially hazardous chemical, and is classified as an S1 Poison. It should only be handles in well ventilated areas, ideally with some form of fume extraction.
