Production & Testing of Deionised Water

We make deionized water using an ion exchange process. The water passes through a twin-bed deionizer, which uses anionic and cationic resins to purify the water.

After the initial purification stage, the electrical conductivity will be less than 1 uS/cm, which is much lower than traditional distilled water. At this point, the water can be called deionised.

To further reduce impurities following deionisation, we pass the water through an ultraviolet sterilisation lamp and a 0.2 micron filter, which removes very small particles as well as bacteria.

Uses of Deionised Water

Is Deionised Water the Same as Distilled Water?

Distilled water and deionised water are the two most common types of purified water. However, there are distinct differences between them.

The difference is in how they’re treated and which impurities are removed. Deionisation can only remove inorganic compounds, like salts and minerals, while distillation removes minerals, heavy metals like mercury, organic matter like bacteria, and also ions. Because of this, distilled water generally has less impurities than deionised water.
